Lots of Newcastle United fans exploded in delight after a takeover update was provided regarding the club’s £300m proposed takeover.
We presumed that the move was thrown into serious doubt after The Guardian reported that the World Trade Organisation (WTO) declared that our prospective owners Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) were responsible for screen illegal pirate television in the Middle East.
However, the mood seems to have changed on Tyneside.
Will PIF takeover the club?
Yes
No
According to The National, Saudi Arabia has transferred $40m to PIF as it aims to “boost economic growth” and make the most out of investment opportunities. Adding two and two together, it seems like we could be in for a huge windfall.
As a result, supporters were salivating over this update and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that we should just go ahead and announce the signing of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, while another humorously declared “things you love to hear”.
