And Our Striker Woes Just Continue To Haunt Us

|

With Newcastle having scored just four goals all season, the last thing we need is for somebody who was supposed to find the net for us pick up an injury.

But that has proven to be exactly the case.

At his pre-match press conference, ahead of the visit of Leicester City, Rafael Benitez announced that Salomon Rondon faces a spell on the sidelines.

The striker signed in the summer transfer window, on a loan deal, from West Bromwich Albion, has picked up a thigh strain.

Talking about the game, Rafael had this to say, as reported by the BBC.

“The pressure to get a win is just the pressure we put on us. We want our first win and then to go on a run.

“We’ll hopefully have more chances at St. James’ Park than away and I am confident we will score. We did something right to finish 10th last year. We need that again.”

Which begs me to ask who is going to put the ball in the net this season?

Joselu looks to be the favourite to start and we’re hoping he can add to his goal tally.

But, once again, we’re questioning the wisdom surrounding the deals that saw Mitrovic and Gayle leave the club this summer, they’re looking more foolhardy by the minute and I bet that duo are not injured!
