Many Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media, after former Magpies goalkeeper Tim Krul reflected on his exploits for the club against Tottenham Hotspur in November 2013.
The Dutchman was in sensational form at White Hart Lane earlier in the decade, with an inspired performance that helped to seal a memorable 1-0 win over the North Londoners, thanks to a goal from Loic Remy.
Krul described his feelings after the match as being ‘over the moon’, having shocked Spurs with a staggering 14 saves, more than any other ‘keeper had managed in a single Premier League game at that stage of the season.
His standout day began in the 30th-minute when he pulled off an acrobatic save to deny Roberto Soldado from equalising with a top-corner-bound header. The Magpies academy graduate then spared Davide Santon’s blushes shortly into the second half, after the Italian full-back was caught in possession by Andros Townsend and gifted the winger a chance to run through on goal.
Minutes later and Krul was again called into action, this time to deny Gylfi Sigurdsson, when the Iceland international’s free-kick took an awkward knick off the wall after our ‘keeper had already begun to dive.

Soldado again had a chance to score in the 64th-minute when the Spaniard looked to head home the rebound of Townsend’s effort, but Krul did well to deny the pair before palming another Townsend shot to safety.
Townsend would have one last chance to see the ball fly past Krul in the 81st-minute as he dashed down the wing and delivered a pinpoint cross to the awaiting Jermain Defoe, who laid the ball off to Eriksen, who in turn played it on to Paulinho who would stab an effort goal-bound.
Jan Vertonghen would then miss the rebound, and we would leave North London with three points in the bag after a performance from Krul that has, and will, be long remembered in the North East.
Who was our best goalkeeper of the decade?
Krul
Dubravka
Harper
Darlow
Krul is seemingly one of those who recollects fondly on the events from 2013, having shared “some amazing memories” when a clip of his performance was posted on Twitter as part of the club’s end-of-decade celebrations.
The £4.5million-rated ‘keeper, now of Norwich City, played a total of 185 first-team games for United, keeping 53 clean sheets in all competitions.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Krul’s post recollecting his performance against Tottenham…
