All’s Quiet On The Newcastle Front

|

This time of the year is a time that doesn’t sit too comfortably with me.

We’re in that period where the old season has ended and the start of the new season is still some way off.

We’re still catching our breath after the hectic events of the old season but hugely anticipating what may evolve before the new season starts.

But, with a World Cup sandwiched between the old and new, am I the only one that feels that everything has been left in limbo?

With the ownership of the club still in the hands of Mike Ashley, with no takeover bid currently muted, I can’t help wondering if that has contributed to the serenity we’re currently experiencing.

I had been hoping that the club would appease the wonderful Rafael Benitez by being involved in a flurry of transfer activity, but, surprisingly, it has remained relatively quiet with the usual plethora of rumours strangely stagnant.

Perhaps the World Cup, allied with the vacations many may be on, has taken everyone’s focus off the job in hand.

Perhaps, with Ashley still in charge, money for transfers isn’t as readily available as we hoped, or perhaps happenings are occurring but are being kept under wraps.

Whatever the case, I’m probably not alone when I say I’m hoping everything is going to burst into a period of frantic activity soon, otherwise, I’ll die of boredom!
