All Or Nowt – Newcastle To Be Next Amazon Subject?

|

This week has seen the rumour circulating that Amazon are looking to Newcastle to be the subject of their next All Or Nothing documentary series.

The rumour has been met with mixed feelings on the subject, and I sit somewhere in the middle.

It would have been amazing had we been the subject last season with the takeover and everything that happened there, but I think that doing it for next season is too early into the new regime to be exposing ourselves to further media scrutiny.

There’s no doubt that being a part of that series of documentaries will increase interest and awareness of our club, especially in a global sense, however, there’s a lot of work to be done behind the scenes before we open ourselves up to that kind exposure.

When you watch the Man City and Tottenham series’ you see the top-level facilities they have, they are leagues above what we have at Benton, even with the new work that’s being undertaken. Even Arsenal’s facilities looked a step down from City and Spurs and yet, still looked leagues above our wheelie bins and Lidl paddling pools.

Granted, that flies in the face of what I said about last season being the best one for the behind-the-scenes look, but last season nobody was expecting anything from us. We had Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce at the helm, we’d have been ridiculed, for sure, mostly by our own fanbase, but that moment when the takeover went through would have been amazing viewing and worth all the finger-pointing and laughing the first half of the documentary would have generated.

However, now I’d say give it another couple of years, let all the new movers and shakers get settled into their roles, get the facilities updated and let the team get settled into a new way of playing before we let the cameras in. That way, those who just want to pull us apart because of our owners can do so only for that and not for what our club is and does, because you can guarantee they will pick apart everything they see. Haters gonna hate.

Oh and, if it does go ahead …. get Jimmy Nail to narrate it. Cheers.
