‘Absolutely’, ‘Technically gifted’ – Some Newcastle fans agree with fan’s €12m suggested target

Some Newcastle supporters have been reacting on social media to one fan, who suggested United should look to sign Chelsea-owned winger Victor Moses this summer.

The 38-cap Nigeria international has spent the past few months away from the Premier League with Fenerbahce on loan, having struggled to earn minutes following the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement.

It was under Conte where Moses enjoyed arguably his best days at Stamford Bridge, when the Italian turned the 2017 Premier League winner into a title-worthy right-wing-back.

His name has now been suggested as a potential Magpies target, as while he is 28-years-old and earns £75,000-a-week, would arrive with some resale value and potentially fix a position Rafa Benitez is keen to upgrade.

It was reported earlier in the month that the gaffer is keen to upgrade our options at wing-back, as DeAndre Yedlin’s’ form failed to instil much faith in the Spaniard, who likewise feels Javier Manquillo is only a worthwhile rotation option.

We also allowed Antonio Barreca to return to parent-side AS Monaco, rather than triggering our £8million option-to-buy, leaving Paul Dummett as our only natural left-back alongside the versatile wide-midfielder Matt Ritchie.

We have been linked with several options for either side, though, in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jetro Willems, Fulham’s Joe Bryan, CSKA Moscow’s Mario Fernandes in a £26.4million deal, Genoa-owned expected Inter Milan full-back Eddie Salcedo, soon-to-be-former BSC Young Boys ace Loris Benito, and Juventus’ Rogerio Oliveira da Silva.

Moses, meanwhile, was linked with a summer move to Inter Milan when Conte’s appointment as the new Nerazzurri manager was still only in the expected phase. He has now been confirmed as Luciano Spalletti’s replacement, and may look to reunite with his former player for €12million (£10.6m) plus bonuses.

Here’s how some Newcastle supporters reacted when Moses was suggested as a potential player of worth…
