A lot of Newcastle United fans are stunned to find out that they are top of the table for most away midweek and Monday games – which seems ridiculous considering how far away we are from most of the other Premier League teams.
Burnley is our closest away game – yet the TV companies like Sky and BT think that it is ok to put us on away either midweek or on a Monday night.
The table shows that we have played just one Monday night game at home and 14 away, and the NUFC Supporters Trust are determined to do something about this – with them deeming this unacceptable.
Are we treated unfairly by the TV broadcasters?
Yes
No
We travel to Aston Villa on Monday night, another four-hour journey when many of our fans will have work in the morning, surely it is time for the TV companies to start spreading out the fixtures more evenly.
Certainly, these Newcastle fans agree.
See the best of the reaction below.
In honour of our 14th consecutive away game when selected for @SkySportsMNF at Villa on Monday, I’ve put together an updated table comparing all 20 PL clubs and how many games they’ve played home and away midweek and on Monday’s. #NUFC @nufctrust pic.twitter.com/FGF8zKLBRv

This is an absolute disgrace. We are the team whose away fans are most adversely affected by evening games and yet we are the most shat upon. Thanks @premierleague

What is the allure of Newcastle being away on a Monday night to them?! Like there must be something attracting a Sky to putting #NUFC in that place, I just can’t work out what it is…

@mrjakehumphrey might highlight this for us. Completely unfair to play on the willingness of fans to travel, so as to minimise TV impact on attendance, regardless of the repeated outlay required of those fans.

When was the last time we played at home on a monday night? Last one i can remember was against villa when martins scored twice in 2008

A lot of Toon fans are fuming at these stats and demand change.
I guess it’s a weird compliment to our away support because they know we will sell out the away end regardless of what day or time we are playing.

This shows we’re still seen as the biggest box office draw outside the top 6. Good work mate.

We’re toppa the pops ????????????

Other Newcastle fans see it as a compliment to our away support.
