Okay, so it hasn’t been the summer we’d all hoped for.
We’ve not got the new owner we all hoped we might have and the investment in the summer transfer window hardly matched our expectation levels.
But, now is not the time for squabbling!
The new season begins, in earnest, Saturday lunchtime when we welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St James Park.
We’re expecting the fixture to be a sell-out and as we look forward to the new season we’re urging you all to get behind the team.
Last season we finished tenth, no mean feat considering the circumstances Rafael Benitez had to operate under, we’re not sure we can match that position but let’s damn well give it a try.
Against Tottenham Hotspur we need to create that famous atmosphere we’re renowned for, we need to get behind the team, sing ourselves hoarse and act as the twelfth man.
Tottenham will be a tough test, but if we can get behind the team, inspire them and cheer them on, we may just get our reward.
Remember we’re Newcastle United, so during the game let’s remain united and get behind the side, they deserve it.
