4-cap man out, £22.5m-rated ace in: The expected Spurs XI Newcastle could face

|

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to field Moussa Sissoko against his former side Newcastle United when the Magpies travel to North London, according to the Independent.

Mauricio Pochettino is without Tanguy Ndombele for the Toon’s visit on Sunday afternoon, as the 4-cap France international suffered a minor thigh injury during training in the week, which ruled the former Olympique Lyonnais star out of the game alongside Juan Foyth and Ryan Sessegnon.

Spurs confirmed on Friday that Dele Alli had returned to training though, while South Korea sensation Heung-Min Son is available for selection again following a three-game ban after reacting violently by aiming a kick in the direction of AFC Bournemouth’s Jefferson Lerma before pushing the midfielder to the floor in May.

Pochettino is expected to immediately instil Son back in his starting XI for our trip to North London on Sunday, while Erik Lamela’s efforts in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City are expected to ensure he retains a place over Champions League Semi-Final hero Lucas Moura.

Former Magpie Sissoko is expected to replace the injured Ndombele, as well, with the £22.5million-rated man due to line up alongside Harry Winks at the base of midfield in a 4-2-3-1, where Christian Eriksen will occupy the creative role in behind England captain Harry Kane.

Spurs’ defence, meanwhile, is thought to consist of Hugo Lloris in goal, with alleged Toon summer targets Danny Rose and Davinson Sanchez joining Toby Alderweireld and Kyle Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters has been given the right-back responsibility in each of Tottenham’s opening fixtures following the departure of Kieran Trippier, and recorded four successful tackles from six attempts against Man City, along with one interception, two clearances, and 43 completed passes.
